CLIENT: Worsley Alumina Limited
Date: 2006
Location: WA, Australia

I & E Systems Pty Ltd. engaged Jackson Lane for preliminary and detailed design of a major new central control building at the Worsley Alumina plant in Western Australia. The new control building replaces all existing unit control buildings at the plant and centralises control in one high quality location.

This award winning project was completed in 2006.

ackson Lane was responsible for all Architectural, Interior design, structural and building services engineering for the control building project and worked in close cooperation with I & E Systems Pty Ltd who were responsible for migration of all existing process control systems and utilities to the new centralised location. The control building project was run concurrently with a major plant control system upgrade. The layout incorporated a video wall with large format rear projection screen displays for process trends and overviews. This is intended to maximise the information available to all panel operators and shift supervisors in abnormal situations.

The new control building interior was fitted out with 7 new operator control stations and special consideration was given to innovative lighting arrangements and acoustic treatment to provide the most comfortable and ergonomic working conditions for the control room operators. Additional facilities included offices for plant supervisors control system engineers and new mess rooms and toilet facilities.
