Jackson Lane Pty Ltd was appointed as prime consultant for the preliminary and developed design of a new central control building and two field auxiliary room buildings at the Shell Geelong refinery. The control building is the hub of a new refinery wide Distributed Control System and supersedes most existing control centres.
All three buildings are designed as blast proof structures in accordance with Shell International standards and are pressurised for operation in potentially hazardous areas. External walls and roof are constructed in heavily reinforced concrete to resist potential blast loads. The control building is a two level structure with a gross floor area of some 2,000 sq m with access flooring systems in most areas. The two field auxiliary buildings are of similar construction but on one level only.
