Aker Kvaerner engaged Jackson Lane Pty Ltd for preliminary and detailed design of a major upgrade and expansion of the existing control centre at the Moomba gas plant. The plant is located in an very remote area of central Australia and the climate is extremely hot and dry.
The new control centre utilises an existing blast resistant building that required substantial re-work to accommodate additional control stations and equipment and the complete replacement of the HVAC system
The new HVAC system equipment was pre-assembled off-site in a purpose designed blast resistant enclosure that was transported some 2000 km to the remote location. Hook up and commissioning was completed in minimum time to meet project schedule constraints and to reduce on-site labour costs.
The control building interior was fitted out with 4 new operator control stations and special consideration was given to lighting arrangements and acoustic treatment to provide the most acceptable working conditions for the control room operators. Additional facilities included offices for plant supervisors and new mess rooms and toilet facilities.
