Aker Kvaerner engaged Jackson Lane Pty Ltd for preliminary and detailed design of a major upgrade and expansion of the existing control centre at the Moomba gas plant. The plant is located in a very remote area of central Australia and the climate is extremely hot and dry.

The new control centre utilises an existing blast resistant building that required substantial re-work to accommodate additional control stations and equipment and the complete replacement of the HVAC system

The new HVAC system equipment was pre-assembled off-site in Perth as a purpose designed blast resistant fully welded steel enclosure.

The completed module weighing approximately 50 tonnes was transported by heavy haulage road vehicle some 2000 km to the remote location in South Australia.

While the HVAC module was being fabricated off-site the building foundations were constructed at the Moomba site. The foundations consisted of a very heavy mass concrete raft slab sized to resist blast load reactions.

Installation, hook up and commissioning was completed in minimum time to meet project schedule constraints and to reduce on-site labour costs
