The ABB Worley Joint Venture engaged Jackson Lane Pty Ltd for preliminary and detailed design of a new control centre for the Longford Gas Plant. The existing plant is controlled from two separate control rooms and the new centralised arrangement will deliver significant improvements in operational efficiency and personnel safety.
The new control centre utilises an existing building located remotely from the process area. The building housed a temporary control room which was required to be operational throughout the refit works until the new control consoles were commissioned and brought on-line.
An important part of our input included the detailed design of new operator workstation furniture to house the DCS consoles. Special attention was given to the ergonomic layout of the various operator interfaces that included an integrated communications and DCS control panel. A full size mock-up of the workstation was constructed at the plant site for operator review and input prior to final design and fabrication
